I recently got a Mx5 mk2.5 2003 Nevada and noticed that the steering feels a bit heavier than your usual car. It does not bother me when I drive, but I'm just curious if the steering of the car is supposed to feel that way

Depends on if it is really just " a bit" heavier and what your other car is. Most front-wheel driven cars have indeed lighter p/s than at least mk1 to mk2.5 MX-5s, while some other cars of that era like BMW E46 have similarly-heavy p/s. Many "drivers" cars that should not only get you from a to b have their p/s on the heavy side with more feedback. But if the car feels like it has no p/s at all (not every MX-5 was equipped with p/s!), there is certainly something wrong. Check your p/s (and a/c if equipped) belt and the fluid level.
